Amped WOW Solar
The WOW Solar was a fun and fulfilling project to work on. The unit provides power as a pay-as-you-go model for people in areas living on less than 4 dollars a day. The product is an expandable system with solar panels and lights that provides clean energy for whatever the families using it need. We tackled the design challenges of making the housings for the main hub and the lights, making complex and manufacturable plastic parts to secure all of the internal components and create a simple user interface.
We went through several iterations to create the housing parts and their internal features to prevent any sinks of external blemishes on the outside surfaces. There was also a lot of effort put into creating a unique and efficient light pipe for the simple display. I created several renders and an animation to showcase all of the interesting design features.
